Course Description: By completion of the course students will be able to:

  1. Apply the methods of Bible study to investigate, compare, and contrast interpretations of various texts.
  2. Reason logically: argue both for and against a position.
  3. Identify main ideas, supporting details, and facts and opinions presented in written, oral, and visual formats.
  4. Select appropriate study techniques, and use a variety of listening skills.
  5. Demonstrate a working knowledge of Bible study resources.
  6. Organize ideas in understandable format in planning written and oral presentations.
  7. Work with a team of peers to solve a problem.
  8. Write Chicago styled notation for all reports, presentations, and media.
  9. Use techniques of the writing process in developing written and oral assignments.
  10. Start and maintain an IRA account.
  11. Plan the major parts of a wedding.
  12. Practice a creative, enjoyable, and meaningful spiritual life.
  13. Understand and analyze moral and ethical issues.
  14. Write a resume, interview for a job, and know some principles for working with people of diverse religious belief.
  15. Understand events, trends, individuals, and movements shaping the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
  16. Compare and contrast ideas in different places, time periods, and cultures, and examine the interrelationships between ideas, change, and conflict.
  17. Give a basic history of the Christian church and the Adventist Church.
  18. Offer major events, facts, and thoughts from the life of E.G. White as outlined in her autobiography from Testimonies to the Church.
  19. Explain the book of Hebrews in the context of the Bible and modern application to a devotional life.
  20. State boundaries for romantic and non-romantic relationships.
