Then they’ll perform for vespers at the Coeur d’Alene church and Sabbath morning in Sandpoint. Monday is HOPE Taskforce and Tuesday students will receive a treat with their grades when they go see their advisor. Encourage them to take time to have this valuable interaction with their advisor. Thursday our student body will grow by about 130 students for the Gymnastics Clinic.

WINTER DRIVING/ATTENDANCE POLICY….
SAFETY IS OUR FIRST CONCERN!
Day students are encouraged to stay in the dorm when it is unsafe to travel. In this case the fee for staying overnight in the dorm would be waived. Please make arrangements with the deans. Students driving during poor road conditions should allow extra driving time.
If Liberty School District is closed we will continue to have classes. Parents will need to evaluate the situation. If Liberty is closed students’ perfect attendance will not be affected and absences will be excused. Our top priority is student safety, but we also don’t want them to miss classes unnecessarily. Sometimes Liberty closes due to the side roads that do not affect travel to UCA.
If Liberty School District is on a two hour delay we will operate as normal. If you have a special circumstance please advise us.
Tune into the radio or TV stations in the morning to have a list of school closings. You may also receive the same information on their websites.
If students have travel emergencies or will be staying home due to road conditions, parents need to call Carol Ochoa at 245-3614.
Again, I encourage you to help your student allow extra travel time or have them stay in the dorm.
We are all praying for a safe winter.
God bless,
Troy Patzer

Dear UCA Family,
We had almost enough talent to fill three amateur hours during auditions last night. There were 44 acts trying out for 16 slots. We are blessed to have such talented students. Although not everyone will be able to perform on Saturday night, November 13, there will be other opportunities.

This Week at UCA – October 15-20, 2010
October 14, 2010
Dear UCA Family,
Can you believe that the end of first quarter is next Wednesday and October home leave begins! Thanks to all of the parents who are encouraging their students as the quarter winds down. We’ve had beautiful fall weather which is facilitating our construction projects. See the DID YOU KNOW section below for more details.
DID YOU KNOW…No matter what grade your student enrolls at UCA, they are eligible for the TIP program (20% discount on tuition) the second year they attend. So if you have a great junior academy in your area, you don’t need to rush. For those that don’t have that option, you can maximize the discount the longer they are at UCA (20% discount second year, 30% third year, and 50% fourth year). How about sharing that with a friend! For more info on this program go to www.ucaa.org
DID YOU KNOW…Construction has begun to improve campus for winter with a new pitched roof on the Guys’ Dorm Chapel and reroofing the rest of the dorm. In addition to this hopefully there will be more parking ready for Parent Weekend and UCC Family Fellowship. The big equipment is cutting away the bank by the football field and will gravel the area for now. Stay tuned as we continue to watch our campus improve for the blessing of our students and their families and prepare for campmeeting in June.
The This Week at UCA and weekly menu are on our website www.ucaa.org and attached; along with the Home Leave Schedule.

This Week at UCA October 8-14, 2010
October 7, 2010
Dear UCA Family,
Tuesday after ITED testing the students elected their class officers. There was plenty of excitement as the classes presented their officers to the rest of the student body. Stay tuned for the list of officers in the Echoes produced by the Journalism class.
Tomorrow six of our students will participate with some of our staff in the Disciple Ship Weekend at Camp Mivoden. Then October 22-24 the ASB and individual class presidents, vice-presidents, and chaplains along with the head and assistant head RAs will be attending the NPUC Leadership Retreat at Camp Mivoden. This is the time when the union generally has a youth Bible conference which costs $105. This year the union is covering the cost for school leaders for our union and UCA will provide the transportation for our students. Please encourage them to take advantage of this amazing opportunity.
DID YOU KNOW…The Photography Class will leave today for their annual photo trip. This year they will go to Wallowa Lake in Oregon. Mr. Brophy said they will use over 300 feet of film in addition to digital pictures.
DID YOU KNOW…We are now in the first year of the new UCA TIP (Tuition Incentive Program), next year all returning students will receive 20% off their tuition. WOW! Now that is something to share with a friend! For more info on this program go to www.ucaa.org
