This Week at UCA – May 27-June 2, 2011

May 25, 2011

Dear UCA Family,

Our final week is about to begin. It’s Memorial Day Weekend and we’ll be remembering this holiday in our classes on Monday. We thank our wonderful God for His many blessings this year. We also thank you for sending us such great students to work with. UCA is what it is because of our great God, our amazing staff, students, their families, and alumni.

DID YOU KNOW?

Twenty-five percent of our seniors are in the top ten percent of Washington state seniors. Praise the Lord!

TOMORROW, MAY 27, 2011

We will use the attached Choral Concert Schedule (modified Friday Week of Prayer Schedule) because our music department is performing at the Central United Methodist Church in Spokane Church at 518 West 3rd Street at 7:30 p.m. Classes will be shortened to facilitate their departure on Friday afternoon.

PARENTS OF FRESHMEN & SOPHOMORES

If your student has a junior class they will have class on Thursday, June 2. Only freshmen or sophomores who do not have junior classes are free to leave after their last appointment on Wednesday, June 1. Both Wednesday and Thursday are a regular schedule, not a home leave schedule.

TEXT & LIBRARY BOOK RETURN

See the attached flier for due dates. Parents, please encourage your student to stay with their books until the librarian has verified that they have returned all of their books. If they check out books after they have returned their books, they will be responsible for those also. It is possible that they will return a textbook, thinking it is theirs, but the bar code shows that it is checked out to someone else. That will help their friend, but they will still be responsible for their book.

Our current students have already completed their re-application form. It is not necessary for them to complete the admissions packet. New student applications continue to arrive daily.

This Week at UCA – May 20-26, 2011

May 19, 2011

Dear UCA Family,

Empty? Be Filled! finished just as strongly and inspirationally as it started. We hope you were able to attend and be blessed as we were.

DID YOU KNOW?

UCA offers 95 different classes. You would be hard pressed to find another school with so many options.  Few schools today offer the art, home and family life, industrial technology, music, and physical education options that we have, as well as Forensic Science and other core classes.  Many public and private schools have cut these classes as their budgets diminish.  I am thankful for support from our alumni, conference, and you parents that allow us to still offer these learning opportunities to enrich the lives of our students and their service to others.

CURRENT STUDENTS RE-APPLICATION

Our current students have already completed their re-application form. It is not necessary for them to complete the admissions packet. New student applications continue to arrive daily.

DAY STUDENTS AND PARENTS

Monday, May 23 is a regular school day  with Track and Field Day in the afternoon. We will use the attached Home Leave Schedule, followed by the track and field events.

NEXT FRIDAY, MAY 27, 2011

Our music department will be performing at the Central United Methodist Church in Spokane Church at 518 West 3rd Street on Friday, May 27 at 7:30 p.m. Classes will be shortened to facilitate their departure on Friday afternoon. We will use a modified Friday Week of Prayer Schedule. It is attached.

This Week at UCA – May 13-19, 2011

May 12, 2011

Dear UCA Family,

We have amazing students!  So far we have heard from ten student speakers over the course of the last two weekends of Empty? Be Filled! and they have all done an excellent job.  We are excited that last Friday night, Karissa Fritz was re-baptized.  This is final weekend. We will hear from two more speakers Friday evening and then Sabbath morning we will hear from the final three speakers.  There will be no afternoon program.  It’s a weekend you won’t want to miss!

DID YOU KNOW?

Of all the mixed teams that entered the Bloomsday Teen Challenge on May 1, a UCA Team won first place? The team was comprised of Elliott Berger, Howie Heaton, Elise Kinne, and Seth White. Way to run Elliott, Howie, Elsie, and Seth!

The students did a tremendous job and we are looking forward to the upcoming second weekend of the series. This weekend the speakers will be Emily Anderson, Alyssa Crain, John Wilson, Sirisha Sukrutham, Dustin Harter, and Kristen Smith. During the 11 o’clock hour on Sabbath, Arron Pak and friends will be debuting a song written by Arron.  Don’t miss out on attending this uplifting series where we find out how God can fill our emptiness. Remember the meeting Friday night begins at 7:00 p.m.

Sunday is the Mother/Daughter Tea Party at 10:00 a.m. Tickets can be purchased from the business office for $10.00 each. All mothers are invited.
