This Week at UCA – March 30 – April 5, 2012

March 29, 2012

Dear UCA Family,

We are thankful everyone has returned safely from spring break and mission trips.

DID YOU KNOW?

There were a total of 44 baptisms as a result of the efforts of the ShareHim Evangelistic Teams in Honduras. Below is a report from Bob Folkenberg, Upper Columbia Conference President. Below the Honduras report is Alaska’s from Joe Hess.

The Lord richly blessed our efforts.  He provided us safety night after night as we traveled to our churches to preach the Gospel.  Our Academy students did AWESOME!  They prayed, studied and preached with real passion and conviction.  They connected with the youth and members and made great relationships.  Many of our youth commented on how much they had learned about our message and how much they enjoyed the sermons.  At the end of the series, we praise the Lord that we were able to witness 44 baptisms.   Additionally, one of our own students, Hailey Parker, also decided to be baptized.  Preaching about Jesus and baptism led her to make the decision to become a life-long disciple of Jesus.  I baptized her in a cold river this past Sabbath. Thank you for your support and prayers.  Bob

With the help of eight UCA students, the Valdez, Alaska, SDA church has a completely renovated fellowship hall. The students spent their spring break putting in new flooring and painting and modernizing the floor boards. In addition the students shared their testimonies in nightly meetings. The locals were blown way with how much the students accomplished in the time that we spent in Valdez. Joe

This Week at UCA – March 25-29, 2012

March 23, 2012

Dear UCA Family,

We hope you are enjoying spring break with the wonderful students you send us. It snowed again this morning, winter is going to hold on a little longer. The good news is spring is coming!

DID YOU KNOW?

The Honduras Mission Trip has already had six baptisms and 37 have requested Bible studies so far? The Guatemala Mission Trip is posting on the UCC website, so check this out http://www.uccsda.org/Youth/Missions. You’ll see many UCA students in the pictures. They hope to have the roof on the church that is being built by Friday evening. Joe Hess sent this report from Alaska:

Hundreds of mountains, moose, rabbits, ice covered lakes, hospitable people, over-all astounding scenery, snow machining, a 15 passenger van, and delicious food: all in a trip that will change our lives forever. Our adventure has led us to Valdez , Alaska where we have been able to speak and provide music for their Week of Prayer and Church Service,  help community members, remodel the church’s fellowship hall and repaint their church sign. It has been a great trip.

HOME-LEAVE BUS

The schedule is attached. Please call the driver’s cell phone if your plans change. Remember, it is very important for students to be early at the pick-up points for the return trip. The bus driver is on a very tight schedule and it affects everyone if they wait for late arrivals. Thank you for helping us be on time by ensuring your student is on time.

Dear UCA Family,

We welcome many of our grandparents to our weekly email. If you know someone else who should receive this email, please send us their address and their UCA student connection. This information is needed for our database. If you are receiving this email in error, just let us know and we will be happy to remove you from our list.

The UCA Band, Choraliers, and Strings departed yesterday afternoon for Angwin, Ukiah, Yountville, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Reno. The gymnastics team headed to Lewiston, Moscow, Moses Lake, Puget Sound, and Yakima. Please pray for safety as they travel, perform, and share the good things God is doing on our campus.

If all of our current freshmen, sophomores and juniors return next year, we will be giving close to $450,000 in discounts through the TIP Program? This is in addition to other scholarships and financial assistance given to UCA students. Now is the time to plan to join the UCA family next year and enjoy the benefits of the TIP Program for the following years. The second year a student attends UCA they will receive a 20% discount on tuition. The third year it is 30% and the fourth year it is 50%!

GRANDPARENT-HERITAGE WEEKEND  is next weekend, March 9 and 10. Grandparents are UCA’s guests for meals during the weekend. We’ve sent invitations to all of the grandparents in our database, but if you know a grandparent who didn’t receive an invitation, please tell them they are invited and we’d love to have them.
