Airmen: Notice of Airstrip Closure

UCA is excited to be hosting Upper Columbia Conference camp meeting this June. Because of this, the airstrip on the UCA campus will close June 8 and reopen June 19.

A Prayer For Our Country

May 10, 2012

A Prayer For Our Country

By: Sophia Rich

May 3, 2012. What happened on that day? Why is it important? What few people realize is that May 3 was National Day of Prayer this year. National Day of Prayer is a day where various churches, schools, and organizations across the nation get together to pray for the country. Farmington SDA church was one of the many places hosting this event on that day and it was to that location that Upper Columbia Academy’s Choraliers and Octet drove that afternoon.

UCA’s Choraliers and Octet provided the musical transition between the different sections of united prayer all through the hour long program. The different sections included the government, the military, education, family, God’s church, and the media. As a part of the prayers, the prayer leaders asked God to guide their country’s leaders, bless families with the abilities to raise their children in a safe, happy environment, and help everyone to make good choices about how they spend their time and how they can be in the world but not of it.

UCA’s choral groups sang a total of eight songs: six by the Choraliers and two by the Octet. The performance truly was a miracle because several of the students were either recovering from being sick or were getting sick. At least two of the performers lost their voices during the performance but with water and lots of prayer, their voices came back in time for the last two songs.

The people who gathered in the little church were blessed by both the music and the prayers.  People lifted their hands and surrendered to God’s leading in the faith that he would answer their prayers.  No matter how bad situations are in our world and our country or how bad they are likely to get, prayer is essential. It is important to pray for the leaders of our government no matter what their mistakes or their political parties. This awe-inspiring experience reminded everyone that prayer is our hotline to God and we should always remember it as such.

This Week at UCA – May 11-17, 2012

May 10, 2012

Dear UCA Family,

Tomorrow is HOPE Taskforce. Pray for us as we share Jesus with our community.

DID YOU KNOW?

Each staff meeting, time is dedicated for staff to share how they have seen students being touched by Jesus. Why? Because creating opportunities for students to meet Jesus is the most important reason for UCA’s existence. During our staff meeting last week, staff shared how on the recent Marine Biology trip students not lonely learned about marine biology but also, more importantly, connected with their Creator.

This Week at UCA – May 4-10, 2012

May 3, 2012

Dear UCA Family,

The pace is picking up as the year winds down. This week the ASB election process began for 2012-13, the biology classes had their field trip and the Bloodmobile came. So many wanted to give blood that some had to be turned away. This weekend the evangelistic series begins in Spokane Valley with UCA students as the speakers.

DID YOU KNOW?

The Biology students went to Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge for their annual field trip.  Turnbull is a 17,000 acre refuge with diverse habitat including wetland and pine forest.  The students saw everything from moose to a trumpeter swan.  They rotated through four different activities:  aquatic study, eco system hike, bird identification, and a classroom activity conducted by the refuge volunteers. Spending a day out in nature adds a new perspective of our Creator God.
