This Week at UCA – May 18-24, 2012
Dear UCA Family,
This is the last weekend for the Spokane Valley Evangelistic Series. Pastor Corbett reports the church is so proud of our students for conducting this series. A couple who knew no one at the church has been coming faithfully. They received the flyer in the mail and were interested in Christianity, so they came. Please continue to pray that this experience will further solidify the beliefs of the students presenting and reach those who are attending.
DID YOU KNOW?
We have accepted 32 students for 2012-13 and have 24 who have begun completing the application process. Last year at this time we had accepted 20.
DAY STUDENTS AND PARENTS
Monday, May 21, is a regular school day with Track and Field Day in the afternoon. We will use the attached Home Leave Schedule, followed by the track and field events.
CURRENT STUDENT RE-APPLICATION
Our current students have already completed their re-application form. It is not necessary for them to complete the admissions packet. New student applications continue to arrive daily.
NEXT FRIDAY, MAY 25, 2012
Our music department will be performing at the Central United Methodist Church in Spokane at 518 West 3rd Street on Friday, May 25, at 7:30 p.m. Classes will be shortened to facilitate their departure on Friday afternoon. We will use a modified Friday Week of Prayer Schedule. It is attached.
MEMORIAL DAY
Monday, May 28, will be a regular schedule.
JUNIOR & SENIOR PARENTS
The graduation weekend schedule is attached. This was mailed to you with other information last week.
FRESHMEN & SOPHOMORES PARENTS
If your student has a junior class they must attend class on Thursday, May 31. Only freshmen or sophomores who do not have junior classes are free to leave after their last appointment on Wednesday, May 30. Both Wednesday, May 30 and Thursday, May 31 are a regular schedule, not a home leave schedule.
TEXT & LIBRARY BOOK RETURN
See the attached flier for due dates. Parents, please encourage your student to stay with their books until the librarian has verified that they have returned all of their books. It is possible that they will return a textbook, thinking it is theirs, but the bar code shows that it is checked out to someone else. That will help their friend, but they will still be responsible for their book.
CAMPMEETING STUDENT WORK OPPORTUNITY
Are you planning to come to the UCC Campmeeting June 13-16? Could your student could use some work? There will be grounds shifts available June 4-15. Café and dorm shifts will be available from June 13-17. If interested, please contact Cindy Kiefer right away. The jobs are limited. Students will be paid minimum wage. cindy.kiefer@ucaa.org or 509-245-3617.
READING SKILLS AND SPEED READING PROGRAMS
Attached is a flyer offering Reading Skill/Speed Reading Programs for children and adults this summer in Spokane.
The This Week at UCA and menu are attached and on our website, www.ucaa.org.
