This Week at UCA – May 21-27
Dear UCA Family,
This weekend will be fairly quiet before we head into the final events of the 2009-2010 school year.
MONDAY, May 24 is Track & Field Day we will use the home leave schedule with a picnic lunch at 12:30 and events beginning at 1:00 p.m. Please click on this link https://www.edline.net/pages/uca/School_Info to view the schedule for Monday and the modified Friday Week of Prayer schedule mentioned below as well as the menu.
Next Friday, May 28 we will use a modified Friday Week of Prayer schedule to allow all classes to meet before the choir leaves. The choir will depart at 2:15 p.m. for their annual Choral Concert in Spokane at the Central United Methodist Church at 518 West 3rd Street at 7:30 p.m. The church will be much more comfortable this year with the air conditioning turned on.
Current students – who will be returning for the 2010-2011 school year have already completed their re-application. The registration packet which contains the forms students and parents need to complete will be ready for parents to pick-up at the Gymnastics Homeshow next Saturday night. If you are unable to pick it up the packet will be mailed to you the middle of June. If you would like to pay your entrance fee for next year and take advantage of the discount click on this link http://www.ucaa.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/2010-11-Financial-Info.pdf to view the schedule for discounts.
The Business Office has a memo below my message regarding library/textbook return. Please take time to read it and encourage your student to stay with their books until they are checked in and they have received the account clear slip from Mrs. North.
DAY STUDENTS – please check the schedule for Monday, Track & Field Day, and next Friday when the choir goes to Spokane for the concert, as we will use different schedules, see above.
DID YOU KNOW… UCA offers 95 different classes. You would be hard pressed to find another school with so many options. Few schools today offer the art, home and family life, industrial technology, music, and physical education options that we have, as well as Forensic Science and other core classes. Many public and private schools have cut these classes as their budgets diminish. I am thankful for support from our alumni, conference, and you parents that allow us to still offer these learning opportunities to enrich the lives of our students and their service to others.
CORRECTION… Memorial Day is May 31 not May 24 as listed on our calendar.

Please Pray For…
- Our students and staff as they finish this year
- Our students’ summer work opportunities
- Our seniors as they plan for the future
- The contacts and decisions for baptism made during the Cheney Evangelism Seminar
- The continual outpouring of the Holy Spirit on our campus
We are grateful for the four decisions for baptism as a result of the Cheney Evangelistic Seminar with many more seeds planted. The Lord truly blessed the efforts of our students. Thank you for praying for them. We have a group of students going to the Deer Park SDA Church to conduct the church service this Sabbath. If you would like a group of students to come to your church next year, please let us know.
Ever heard the saying, “Blessed to be a blessing”? Having been a student at UCA myself, I can speak for the students in saying they are truly blessed to be going here. Isn’t it neat to see them using that blessing to bless others (presenting church services, evangelism seminars, mission trips & HOPE Taskforce). That is what Seventh-day Adventist Christian education is all about!
God bless,
Troy Patzer – Principal

Re: Textbooks & Library books
In order for us to know what books we need to order for next year, we need to have all textbooks and library books turned in before students leave school. All books not turned in by the due date will be charged to the student’s account, with an additional $10.00 fine per book. ALL books are to be returned to the LIBRARY ONLY! The return schedule is below.
- All library books are to be returned to the library by May 26th (and in acceptable condition).
- Textbooks for Freshmen and Sophomores are due June 2 before they check out of the dorm and leave.
- Textbooks for Seniors are due on May 28th.
- Textbooks for Juniors are due June 3rd.
- All books returned to the library after June 15 will receive a maximum refund of 50% of the cost of the book. The $10.00 fine will not be refunded.
- Please keep in mind that the books returned must be the same book that was checked out to the student (i.e. the bar code # must match). If you believe all books were turned in, but still show a charge, it may be that the books turned in were a roommates or friends.
- Books left outside Library doors are NOT considered returned on time and will be accessed the $10.00 per book late fee fine.
- STUDENTS - We suggest that you stay by as you turn in your books, to make sure you are returning the ones that are checked out in your name. Turning in other people’s books helps them, but NOT you! Make sure that you get an account clear slip printed by Mrs. North. You will need the slip when you check out of the dorm and finalize your accounts for the year.
